Film “The 5^th Wave”

            This is a new film in 2016. I am very curious when I hear the title. My curiosity is rising when I see the cover. I think the film will be like a doomsday. But, all my predictions are entirely wrong. It’s not a doomsday. At first, the film shows us about an alien attack. There is something like an UFO above our earth. The UFO makes the electricity collapse. I think it’s like the alien wants to eradicate the humans. But then, it changes like a doomsday. There is a huge wave like tsunami that destroys all cities near the sea. There is also a big earthquake. Here, my mind becomes so confused. I can’t predict what the writer actually wants to show us. The writer combines the alien attack and the doomsday atmosphere which I think inappropriate.

            After all the peculiarity in this film, it shows another infelicity. The next disaster is the spreading of strange viruses that can kill the human. Many people die because of these strange diseases. This disease is connected with the wave and earthquake. But, what’s about the alien? The writer doesn’t talk about alien anymore until the disease part has finished. I think the alien may be forgotten for a moment. However, the issue about alien rises again among the people that are still alive. The fear of being attacked by alien rises in the people. I wait and wait to see the alien. But, again, there is no alien in this film. It just shows us the eradication of people by the other stronger people. It is so strange. I still don’t know what actually happen in this film.

             The last event in this film is strange again at first. It talks about alien again. But now, they show the form of alien. The alien is patched in the human brain. When the film comes to its end, I am surprised. It actually doesn’t talk about alien. It shows us about the human mind changing. This film is successfully shuffling my mind. After I have finished watch this film, I conclude that this film is about the way to human extinction. But I still don’t know why it is happen and what will happen after that. I am so confused because the ending of this film seems hanging. May be there is the second chapter of this film.

            The writer of this film creates this art through a unique way. It is different from other film that we can predict the story. All your speculations toward this film are missing. You will get many surprises. This film has many good moral values. You will see the power of family love, the great love from a sister toward her brother. It can open your eyes, how precious your family is. It also shows us how to be a human when the world forces us to act as if we aren’t a human. Human is different from other creatures. Human has a feeling. It’s a feeling of loving and caring each other. It’s not a feeling to assassinate each other. Human will not kill each other.

            This film is awesome. You will feel the atmosphere as if you are in the film. The plot in this story is easy to follow. The story is orderly told. The diction of language in this story is easy to understand. We can watch and understand this film without subtitle. The delineation of the characters and events is good. I may say to you that the theme of this film is about being a human.

Setiap kejadian yang ditampilkan seperti tidak cocok sama sekali. Tetapi sebenarnya, penulis hanya ingin menatang kita. Apakah kita bias menebak kejadian-kejadian yang akan ditampilkan di film ini. Ternyata film ini benar-benar berhasil membuat takjub sekaligus terheran-heran para penontonnya. Setiap adegan yang disuguhkan di dalam film ini benar-benar tidak terprediksi. Alur cerita yang sangat unik yang dapat memberikan inspirasi baru di dunia perfilman. Ini adalah sebuah karya seni yang benar-benar bagus.
